Sant Llorenç de Balafia (Sant Joan)Sant Llorenç is a small village with a long history, surrounded by countryside and bathered by a wonderful light. His visit is a must. As in the rest of the island, the village nucleus is the church, which is characterized by having a single entrance arch, like the churches of Santa Gertrudis and El Pilar de la Mola in Formentera. The bell, now located in the center of the facade, was placed at one end. However, a reform in the nineteenth century, moved it to its present location. The church was built in this area, near the town of Balafia because it was a place already inhabited in the sixteenth century. A few meters away from the church we find the entrance of Can Pere Mosson, a property with a public recreation area (services, drinking water, benches and tables and points to make barbecues) and an area of forest that allows a delicious signposted walk, which includes the observation of birds and the lime kilns and silos. In the lime kilns were burned stones to produce quicklime that once drowned, and they were used to coat walls. Sant Llorenç Marianet you can ask for Cap Martinet, - going up to Sant Joan, before arriving to Cana Pepeta, where you can taste the typical products of the earth, from the sobrassada and cheese produced at home to farm wines.
